Stone Sports Management, LLC (Columbus, Ohio) – November 30, 2018
Stone Sports Management LLC (“SSM”) announces Goalkeeper Evan Bush’s new three-year MLS contract with the Montreal Impact. The 32-year-old American born in Concord Township, Ohio continues as the Impact’s longest-tenured player, ensuring that he will dawn the Bleu-blanc-noir colors for over a decade. The Impact reward its 2018 Defensive MVP and Videotron Fans’ Player of the Season for his stellar 2018 performances that included an MLS All-Time 2nd best individual save performance (14 Saves against LAFC on April 21th), 2nd most season Saves since 2009 at 132 and a -6.82 expected Goals Against. The MLS Audi Player Index recognized Bush as the top statistical performer during the 2018 MLS season.
“I would like to thank Colleen (my wife) and my kids for their continued support in my daily pursuit living out my dream to play professionally for an incredible club and passionate fan base. My elation would not feel the same nor would this be possible without their full support, and I hope they understand they are the priority in all my decisions. I would also like to thank my family, particularly my parents who have always supported me in every way possible. Finally, thank you to Justin and Stone Sports Management for the dedication to details and the pleasure to work together first hand and experience professionalism during this process.”
The Impact have secured its top Goalkeeper through the 2021 season, and the partnership that enters its ninth season seeks to expand on Bush’s incredible 75% Tournament Winning Percentage (MLS Playoffs, CONCACAF Champions League, Canadian Championship), having never lost in MLS Playoff Regulation.
“Evan signing a new contract with the Impact is excellent news for the future of this team,” said head coach Rémi Garde. “His excellent work daily with Joël Bats, alongside the group’s three other goalkeepers, allowed him to have a very good 2018 season. I’m happy to be able to count on him next season.”
This season, he reached 50 career MLS wins and 150 career games played with the Impact, surpassing former Canadian International Greg Sutton for most career saves and regular season minutes among goalkeepers. Evan leads the Impact in most MLS club goalkeeping records, ranking 1st in Games Played (163), Minutes Played (14,589), Shots Faced (2,073), Saves (550), Consecutive Games Played (34), Consecutive Shutout Minutes (420), Season Shutouts (10), Consecutive Shutouts (3), Season Minutes Played (90), Season Saves (132) and ranks 2nd in Shutouts (42) and Wins (60). On March 10, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio, he reached 10,000 Impact MLS career minutes and will surpass Impact legend Patrice Bernier all-time records for minutes played and appearances (all positions).
MLS recognized Bush six times to its MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week/Bench (Weeks 3, 10, 16, 23, 24 and 32) while the Impact supporters voted him a season-high nine times as the Videotron Player of the Game. Bush is one of only four MLS Goalkeepers to average 30 or more starts and one of five to earn 30 or more shutouts during the last four seasons, representing 11.4% of those eligible to accomplish this feat. Since He is the only North American player ever to win the CONCACAF Golden Glove Award (and named to the region’s Goalkeeper of the Year short-list), where he helped the Impact to the 2014-15 Tournament Final. The Impact’s two recent Canadian Championships occurred with Bush in net, and his 2018 Defensive MVP award came seven seasons after winning the 2011 NASL Golden Glove Award.
“Evan thoroughly deserves this contract after eight dedicated years to the Impact and the Montreal community that culminated in his best season yet,” says President and USSF Licensed Intermediary Justin B. Stone. “The financial and employment security will help welcome Evan and Colleen’s third child at the start of 2019, and Evan should be proud of his accomplishments. Thank you to Evan for his trust and also to President Joey Saputo, Technical Director Adam Braz and Head Coach Rémi Garde for their continued partnership and professionalism throughout negotiations. I am looking forward to seeing Evan and the Club move forward in a positive manner.”
Evan’s charitable efforts within the Montreal community include acting as Partner and Ambassador for West Island Community Shares (WICS), as a former Spokesperson and Ambassador for Procure’s “Bowvember” campaign, as a speaker for “All the Way with the Impact” at the local Elementary and High Schools as well as an Honorary Chairman for Tune In to Y.E.S. (Youth Employment Services).
